Call to Camp!
August 13-17, 2025
Breitenbush Hot Springs, Detroit, Oregon
Art by Helios Heartstar | Come all you fun-loving, rollicking, sky-clad nature boys, over-the-top drag queens, and mellow relaxation seekers to the foothills of the Oregon Cascades and revel in an adult summer camp experience. |
Camp Breitenbush is calling you.
Listen, listen, listen to the sound of the rushing cold Breitenbush River sluicing beneath the bridge of intentions. Hear the trickle of hot water cascading gently into the middle meadow pool. Sit quietly at the edge of the woods and experience psithurism (pronounced sith-err-iz-um), the gentle sound of the wind blowing through the trees.
Art by Turtleheart | Camp Breitenbush is calling you. Feel the warmth of the sun on as much skin as you choose to expose. Enjoy the healing heat of the meadow pools soaking deep into your aching muscles. Notice how the cold river raises goosebumps on your skin, then repeat the sun-soaking. Feel your body as you dance and twist and bend like no one is looking, even as your exhibitionist side revels in the gaze of the voyeurs casting appreciative eyes in your direction.

Camp Breitenbush is calling you.
Touch the forest while you bathe in its glory, shin-roku. Lay hands on a consenting fellow faerie and experience their heat and pleasure. Hug an old friend, and a new one. Feel the gentle tickle of a fern frond, the light touch of a feather, or the rough texture of a fallen branch.
Camp Breitenbush is calling you.
Smell the incense cedar. Inhale the heady aroma of a regrowing forest in the warm summer sun. Savor the slightly sulfurous odor of the steam sauna. Breathe deeply all the wonderful scents of passion in the love lounge.
Camp Breitenbush is calling you.
Taste nutritious vegetarian meals served for our pleasure in the dining hall. Enjoy the piquancy of a partner’s skin as you give them a tongue bath.

Camp Breitenbush is calling you.
Yes, Camp Breitenbush is for all your senses. It’s also a time to let yourself be, to drop the judgments of self or others, to be your playful self, or just to relax. If you went to summer camp as a kid, or if you didn’t, consider this your invitation to come to adult summer camp. Maybe there’ll be a craft tent and camp-wide games.
Plan your act for the k(no)w-talent show, a dazzling extravaganza of faerie campiness that will put any Scout camp set of skits far down the memory lane. Show off your favorite drag, or your best funderwear, or perhaps nothing but a bit of makeup in the fashion show. Tell a story, a big lie, or a bit from a favorite book in the spoken word evening.
It’s all up to you and what you make of it. Bondage workshop? Naked nature walk? Six-handed massage? Guided intimacy? Musical theater? Kinky explorations? Pre-breakfast yoga? Sharing coming out stories? Frisbee and hula hoop and football and soccer and ring toss? You know something the rest of us don’t, so consider sharing it.
Camp Breitenbush will be a marriage of convenience between the best parts of your childhood summer camp and the extravagance of camp as elucidated by Susan Sontag back when your QR was just a shy 10-year old boy (1964). “Indeed the essence of Camp is its love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration.” Although we’ll be in nature, remember that “All Camp objects, and persons, contain a large element of artifice. Nothing in nature can be campy … Rural Camp is still man-made, and most campy objects are urban. (Yet, they often have a serenity – or a naiveté – which is the equivalent of pastoral. A great deal of Camp suggests Empson’s phrase, ‘urban pastoral.’)” https://monoskop.org/images/5/59/Sontag_Susan_1964_Notes_on_Camp.pdf
Camp Breitenbush is calling you. Camp Breitenbush welcomes all men who love men, men who have sex with men, and humans who identify as men who are comfortable with the first two groups. There aren’t many rules (no nudity in the parking lot, cover your butt and genitals in the dining room, and keep sex to private places) but the important one is the golden rule: treat others as you’d like to be treated. And remember, consent is sexy.

FAERIE FEE FUND
| For some, it’s impossible to pull enough money together to attend the Gathering. The Faerie Fee Fund (FFF) helps make that happen. FFF are for our beloved faeries who could not otherwise afford to attend the Gathering. FFF requests are granted based on individual needs. The registration fee is $495. This year, there is a $300 maximum FFF award. Folks receiving the award will be expected to pay the remaining $195, but even if that is an obstacle, please talk to us. Complete the Faerie Fee Fund section and at the Registration Fee step, select DEPOSIT FOR NOW to pay a $195 deposit to reserve your spot. The process is easy. The online registration form has all the information. Complete the registration and let your QR Court and the FFF Faeries figure out how much help we have to support your sojourn to Breitenbush. In the unlikely event we cannot provide you enough from the FFF to get you there – as an award, probable but not guaranteed – we will refund your entire deposit. Expect to hear from us by July 24th, if not sooner. The FFF is supported by donations. Many thanks to the lovelies whose contributions have helped make support from the FFF possible. If you would like to make a donation, simply include extra funds beyond the $495 fee when you register. |
